Receive Presidential SBY Award for Peace and Leadership


NEW YORK, (NGO Voice) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was awarded the peace prize and leadership handed President & CEO of the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) Noel Lateef, New York, United States, Wednesday (26/9) or Thursday (27/9) pm.

FPA medal awarded to the head of state upon the consistency of leadership in maintaining peace and international cooperation.

Present on the occasion, Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Minister of PP & PA Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar, and State Secretary Sudi Silalahi.

Head of State in his speech said that the post-Cold War era, the world should switch to the era of 'Peace Warm' or 'Warm Peace.' But the coveted peace is still far from the real conditions of peace.

"When relations between major countries stable and cooperative, there is a political earthquake that will continue to disrupt the international system for the better," said the Head of State.

Pessimism was diungkapkanya with reference to a number of unresolved conflict, the conflict on the Korean Peninsula, the South China Sea, the Arab-Israeli conflict, Syria, and many more.

"All conflicts that could potentially explode into open conflict. Amid this warm peace, hatred and fanaticism, intolerance and extremism also continue to poison the world," the president said.

He said one of the biggest challenges for a warm peace is how to accommodate the emergence of new powers in the international system of the 21st Century.
